Lamppost Press is looking to publish diverse book-length fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry projects from writers of faith. Whether or not the work is overtly Christian, we seek projects that embrace the messiness, mystery, and complexity of the human experience.
Here are some examples of the types of projects we are looking for:
Literary novels that from Christian writers and/or that grapple with issues of faith, like Marilyn Robinson's HOUSEKEEPING or GILEAD, Leif Enger's PEACE LIKE A RIVER, or Miriam Toews's A COMPLICATED KINDNESS.
Short story, essay, or poetry collections with a unifying theme. Also, sprawling yet cohesive novels-in-stories that go deep into the best and worst of human nature, like A. Muia's A DESERT BETWEEN TWO SEAS.
Projects that are experimental, language-driven, rooted in theology/philosophy, and defy easy characterization, like Annie Dillard's HOLY THE FIRM.
Genre novels with a literary voice, with a special interest in character-driven stories that use genre or overarching metaphors to make a point relevant to the Christian life.
